Only two weeks

Until I go to New Zealand.

Just bragging.

I'm back

Have just spent three fabulous weeks in Vanuatu. Where the water really does look like this all the time. And the people smile at you and say hello all the time (not like Australia where, if you make eye contact with someone, you're usually treated to a glare). And the weather is fabulous, even during cyclone season (ok, it rained a few days). There are more pictures over on Flickr and more tales over at my other blog.

Where I've been

Okay, so there is a lot of white there that needs to be filled up (though some of the dots in the Caribbean and South Pacific are too small to see). I am working on putting more red on the map....

ATTENTION ALL AUSTRALIANS WHO EAT FOOD!

Whether you usually shop at Woolworths or boycott them for whatever reason, listen up. The CEO of Woolies has pledged that all profits made on 23rd January will be donated to the Country Women’s Association to help farming families struggling through the drought. Let me say that again: ALL their profits from that day will be donated to the CWA. So if you were planning on shopping at Coles the day before, why not wait a day, shop at Woolies and help those who are struggling. It shouldn’t cost you any more than it normally would to do your weekly shop.

Tell everyone you know - call them, email them, write them a letter (and when you do the grocery shopping on the 23rd, maybe take a book for when you’re standing in a queue that resembles a pre-cyclone panic).

Another film

The crocodile. He looks like he's being carried through the water, but it's an illusion created by the wind whipping up the water combined with my poor cinematography skills. The croc was about two metres long (from where I was standing - which was a very safe distance away). Apologies for the poor quality and the background noise.

Film

Hopefully this works... This is a short piece of a wallaby and I sharing afternoon tea. A tortilla to be exact. The wallaby turned down the olives so I had those to myself. I apologise for the occasional sounds of wind - it was a really windy day, as is often the case in Cooktown. And the camera operator should be fired (that's me). But I love the sounds of the birds in the background as much as anything else. Enjoy.
I will be writing more about the trip soon - most likely over here. And there are load of pictures over on Flickr now.
