Thursday Thirteen

This picture was taken at the second-hand shop where I usually buy most of my books. So here are thirteen books I have on my bookshelf that I am yet to read.
  1. Silent spring - Rachel Carson
  2. The sound of one hand clapping - Richard Flanagan
  3. Cry freedom - John Bailey
  4. My brilliant career - Miles Franklin
  5. The unbearable lightness of being - Milan Kundera
  6. Maya - Jostein Gaarder
  7. The grapes of wrath - John Steinbeck
  8. The magus - John Fowles
  9. Self - Yann Martel
  10. The sea - John Banville
  11. Eucalyptus - Murray Bail
  12. The Canterbury tales - Geoffrey Chaucer
  13. Anna Karenina - Leo Tolstoy
And that is nowhere near all of them...!
...

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, please use the auto-link. And comments are always much appreciated. Leave a comment and I will visit your Thirteen in return.

Sounds like you need to swap the tropics for somewhere that has cold, snowy winters, then you could curl up on the couch and read your books ... but I guess you would patchwork, instead.

PS: Tanya, I need links, pleeaase.

I haven't read any of the books you have mentioned but I do have a pretty huge colection of books myself. I buy mine in charity shops or at car boot sales mostly. Now DP has banned me from buying anymore till I get rid of some. :-(
I have loads...a full cupboard and ho knows how many boxes full in the attic!

Planning to "bookcross" them hen I have read them.

Great list! Happy Thursday!

I think it's a great thing to read, and your list is a deep one. Grapes of Wrath I read in school. I don't know if it would be one of the ones on my list. :) I need to escape with brainless books. :)

Don't waste your time on Rachel Carson. She can be credited with the death and disability of millions of 3rd world people by getting the DDT scare started. All that stuff has been discredited, but her inheritance lives on to the grief of millions in the 21st century.

Thanks for visiting my TT. I too have many books on my shelves unread.

I have read four of the books on your list. When my room mate and I decided to throw our lots in together a year and a half ago after the hurricanes here I had to let go of a lot of my books - I had help putting three big boxes in my truck and when I arrived at the library the man had to use a hand cart to haul them in. After taking a peek in the boxes the libranian was all smiles because these were good books - now I try to go to the library instead of buying - there just is no room and I still have lots left.

Well... I have read The Canterbury Tales - in senior high school - and if you can understand it without the aide of your 12th grade English teacher, more power to ya! LOL! I had the worst time getting through that! I have read Anna Karenina - which is a wonderful story! I have NOT read Grapes of Wrath - though I think I have read about everything else Steinbeck wrote -- you can't go wrong with him! GREAT LIST! Get busy reading!

Thursday sure does come around fast...And I don't read as much as I should...I spend a lot of time reading blogs instead of books and now that it's getting warm here, the blog reading will slow up and I will go outdoors more.

I hated the movie My Brilliant Career, I think the book would be better. As long as you're not a hopeless romantic like me.
